Architecture

Spine-Leaf Structured Cabling

Modern data center cabling follows a spine-leaf topology with structured cabling tiers. Each layer requires specific fiber components optimized for density, performance, and serviceability.

Spine Layer

High-capacity spine switches interconnect leaf switches using MPO/MTP trunk cables. Parallel optics and breakout cables deliver 40G, 100G, and 400G links between spine and leaf tiers.

Leaf Layer

Leaf switches connect directly to servers via top-of-rack (ToR) deployment. Each leaf switch uplinks to every spine switch, providing full mesh redundancy and predictable latency.

Structured Cabling

A three-tier cabling infrastructure — main distribution area (MDA), horizontal distribution area (HDA), and equipment distribution area (EDA) — organizes fiber runs for scalability and serviceability.

Patch Panel / ODF

High-density patch panels with MPO/MTP and LC duplex adapters manage cross-connections in the MDA and HDA. Modular cassette systems enable tool-free adds and changes.

Fiber Interconnects

Pre-terminated trunk cables, harness cables, and patch cords connect active equipment. Factory-tested assemblies ensure consistent low insertion loss across thousands of connections.

Server / Storage

Short-reach LC duplex or MPO patch cords connect server NICs and storage HBAs to the ToR leaf switch. OM3/OM4 multimode for intra-rack runs, OS2 singlemode for longer reaches.
